Just down the road from us is the Galiseto Rodeo. Its a real down home event and a great place to see cowboys and cowgirls in action.
Its in a small arena, just outside the town of Galiseto. There are bleachers for the fans, but the real die hards come early with their pick up trucks, lawn chairs, and coolers, and back up to the arena for the best seats in the house.
One of the best events is the "Mutton Bustin'". Little cowboys attempt to ride a sheep for 8 seconds. It's a pre-curser to the grown up event of bull riding. Today, the sheep won:

Its a real family event with lots of kids on horses:

Mid afternoon, this time of year, we're almost guaranteed a rain shower, complete with thunder and lightening, so I had to take some landscape shots:
